I lay in the dark, before sleep finds me. It is here where the voice from the starless abyss calls to us all, finding purchase in exhausted minds. Some heed it’s whispered provocation, others let its existential lamentations echo into the night, free, if only for a time.
It came to me in a cohesive thought, tightly formed, as if delivered directly into the grey matter from Gaias consciousness. A warning.
The naivety of mans arrogance was natures very own trojan horse. A perfect evolutionary redundancy. For any creature with such a belief, the aspiration of godhood, was inevitably, doomed to fail, blinded by their own sense of magnificence. Destined, to destroy themselves before they could destroy their own environment.
Nature was unknowable. A collation of trillions of systems interacting in ways so subtle that comprehension was simply impossible. It could not be overcome, implicit in its very structure were the checks and balances necessary for her own sustainability. Regardless of how much we take from her… She plays the long game. One day our constructed world will be gone, but one will form from its ashes. Eventually washed clean of humanity’s blight. A race too reliant on burning the corpses of our ancestors. Time, is natures diplomacy. She has won before and she shall again.
